The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which has the title of "the longest suspension bridge with a middle span in the world" with its 2023-meter middle span, which symbolizes the 100th anniversary of the Republic, is connected the European and Asian continents for the first time in the Dardanelles Strait.
About 5 thousand people took part in the construction of the bridge, the foundation of which was laid on March 18, 2017. Asphalt paving works on the road of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which has a total length of 4,608 meters with the 680 meter Lapseki and 365-meter Gelibolu approach viaducts, are about to be completed. The finishing touches are now being put on the bridge.

OPENING DATE SHOOTED
When the works on the bridge, which was planned to be put into service on March 18, were completed earlier than expected, the opening date was moved forward.
Stating that they completed the construction of the house project with an investment amount of 2 billion 545 million Euros, President Erdoğan said, "The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is an important part of the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway Project, which has a total length of 101 kilometers, 88 kilometers of which is highway and 13 kilometers of connection roads.
THE FIRST RANK IN THE WORLD IN ITS AREA
With the sum of its middle and side spans and the approach viaducts, this bridge, whose crossing length reaches 4,608 meters, is a work that ranks first in the world in its field. The 2023-meter middle span of the bridge symbolizes the 100th anniversary of our Republic, and its 318-meter steel towers symbolize the 18 March 1915, when the Çanakkale Naval Victory was won.
Our bridge, which is 334 meters above sea level with a 16-meter cannonball figure, ranks first in the world in this respect. The highway project that we will put into service will shorten the distance between Malkara and Çanakkale by 40 kilometers, while reducing the transit time between Lapseki and Gallipoli, which takes hours, to 6 minutes. We are putting our highway and bridge, which we have completed by working day and night with approximately 5,100 personnel and 740 construction machines, into service on February 26, 2022."
